Kitchen cost: MDF, HPL or acrylic?
Kitchens are priced per linear metre: each metre has a base unit and a wall unit, with the worktop priced on top. Here are the five common options in Egypt and how to price your own kitchen.

A linear metre of kitchen starts at about EGP 8,500 for MDF, EGP 11,500 for HPL and EGP 16,000 for acrylic, rising to EGP 48,000 for imported kitchens. A 5 m HPL kitchen with its worktop costs about EGP 73,500.

The worktop (granite or quartz) follows the kitchen's tier — pricier kitchens usually get a pricier worktop — so its rate differs from row to row.
Example kitchen sizes
Total = linear metres × (cabinet rate + worktop rate). For L or U shapes, add up the length of every wall with cabinets.

What the price includes — and what it doesn't
- Included: base and wall cabinets installed, standard hinges and runners, the worktop installed.
- Elsewhere in the finish: the sink and mixer (plumbing), the wall tiles behind the counters (tiling) and the electrical points (electrics).
- Not included: appliances (fridge, cooker, hood) — they're priced under appliances if you choose turnkey.
- Soft-close hinges and runners from known brands, under-cabinet lighting and internal drawers raise the price.

What's the difference between MDF and HPL?
Both are built on engineered boards, but HPL is faced with high-pressure laminate that resists scratches, heat and moisture better — so it lasts longer and costs more.

Is the worktop included?
